I have had the worst experience with the blank screen for the WordPress Blog Commenting. For over a week I did not receive a single comment. It slipped off my mind to check out if there was something terribly wrong with the commenting system. All I was thinking that it was very common for a blog not to receive comments for a certain number of days.
My assumption was a bad one and now I feel like repenting for not checking out the basics. Anyways today I went on searching for possible causes and solutions for the blank wp-comments-post.php page.
I tried the following solutions to get my WordPress comment problem sorted out but to no avail:
1) http://www.techpavan.com/2008/12/17/blank-page-comment-submit-wordpress/
2) http://www.shoutmeloud.com/wordpress-blank-page-super-cache-plugin-problem-solved.html
3) Disabling Plugins: Wp Super Cache, Akismet, Bad behavior and others.
4) Changed theme, tried the default theme as well.
5) Was tired and frustrated by now.
WordPress Blank Comment Page Solution:
Then finally I logged into my FTP client and checked through any possible errors. To my horror the wp-comments-post.php file was totally blank. I was taken back to see it completely bald with no php codes whatsoever.
All I did was replaced wp-comments-post.php file on my server with a fresh wp-comments-post.php file off the WordPress download.
Problem Solved.
I really don’t know what caused the problem but I am glad I could find the solution myself.

I am really sorry that you could not comment on any of my posts for over a week now. I failed to realize that there was something wrong with it. Anyways now the problem is solved, so you can comment to your heats desire or till your finger hurts.

I fixed this problem by deactivating a plugin called WP Pubsubhubbub.
Is it always like this or there might be some other reason the wp-comments-post.php returns a blank page? And if it is so, how come there are still some comments?

Well, this is exactly the problem I’m facing when I try to comment on some of the relevant blogs in my niche. But what can I do as a blog reader when the blog owner might not even be aware of the situation? Its’ really frustrating as I carefully craft my comment based on the blog post and reply of others and then nothing happens. And this goes on and on and on for at least 7 blogs out of 10. I feel I’ve just wasted half my afternoon!

I have this problem, it is irritating, I still don’t know how to solve it. And my business partners keep on telling me that many blogs have it too. Many. You go an try to leave a comments on the blogs with interesting posts, you will find out that many of them are experiencing this issue .
On my blog, I deactivated the wp-comments plugin, and uploaded another one, but I am not sure whethet it really helped.
Where did you find the code for wordpress wp-comments that you inserted onto your server?

Well it can be because of a corrupt WordPress file or maybe due to plugins. Your best bet is to disable all the plugins and check 1 by 1.

This is a major problem with WordPress. I’ve been writing a few comments around the place lately and keep getting the blank page. I doubt most webmasters even know their blog has this problem.

I have a different kind of problem, I do get a 404 on posting a comment on my site, but the URL is strange… http://simplysimple.info/^http:/115.118.91.230/ where the IP address is from the computer I am accessing the net from. I might have messed up some files when I tried to delete a recent comments plugin. What files do I need to change? Replacing wp-comments-post.php in the root directory did not help, neither did replacing the comments.php file in the theme folder. I’ve also disabled any comment related plugins.

Are you on WordPress 3?? I recommend you to reinstall WordPress automatically from the Wp admin. It’s the easiest solution to many problems. But you might lose some customizations.
Wow is this blank page problem occuring more often than not? I know when I’m trying to post a comment all I get is blank pages when I click on “post comment.”
i am also facing the same problem and i also found that my wp-comments-post.php was missing. i checked the wordpress download zip file and couldnt find it either.

Using your blog to test, as well. Been having major problems with a bunch of different pages, trying to post comments. Hopefully it’s not on my end that the problems are persisting. Testing with Firefox 3.6.6 for Ubuntu in Lucid.

I have been having this exact problem posting to my favorite WP blogs recently and I thought it was a browser problem with FireFox and IE lol. Are you sure this isn’t a wordpress update bug? I have noticed that if I try to put a slightly longer url in the above “Website” field to my blog site, npxp.com will “blank page” and only allows the TDL domain name period.
Anyway I’ll try to leave my comment here now to see if this is working for my IE browser.

Well if you have a good Alexa then chances are that you rank well in search engines. So is that what your question is?
I come across this problem alot when trying to post on colleagues blogs. I even had a blog at one time and I couldn’t post to it, so I removed it as I could not get the time of day from WP or akismet. So, what if your a commenter, and you get this white page of death? How do you go about fixing this?
My advise is to contact the blogger through email or probably through the contact me page and then let them know about this problem.

Naa it was not related to virus. It was just mere corrupted files due to some plugin which I don’t know.
