Anyways here it is, the instant credit cards from ICICI. Well, as you might know never in the Indian history in terms of banking “Instant” was ever involved…
So all you have to do is open a bank account with Fixed deposit and of course deposit about 20k rupees to get your own credit card! Spending limit would be less but then all you need is a credit card if you are making money online.

Its been since more than a week I have purchased 20k FD from ICICI bank. They provided me with Credit card instantly and promised me it will get activated within 2-3 days.
Till now it has not been activated, anyone facing similar situation?

There is one more way to use paypal without investing 20k even. Again that awesome service is provided by ICICI only. That is b2 (Branch free Banking) account. Visit website http://www.b2.icicibank.com and apply online. Its lengthy form but it works like a charm.
After applying you will get representative from bank at your desired place and will collect documents and will verify with original ones.
The card they provide will be virtual on screen, but that you can link with your paypal account. The benefit of this is that you dont have to worry about your CC getting steal by someone and misusing it.
Also, its like, you have to fund your credit card and have to use it. So you can fund the amount you need and hence no one can extract money out of it unless you fund it.

Tried adding it to Paypal, not working. I Guess it is not activated yet, anybody knows when it gets activated?

Hi, Now help me understand this a little more. What I simply want is this. I don’t want to buy a Credit-Card. I have an ICICI bank account. Can I link my ICICI bank account with PayPal and do online payments through paypal. After linking my bank account I will just transfer some amount of money in PayPal. Is there any problems in that ? Unfortunately Indians can’t fund their Paypal account via bank accounts. The only way an Indian can fund their Paypal account is through a credit card or if someone else sends money from their paypal account to yours.
But even after the March 1st thing, you can still withdraw the Paypal amount to your Bank account but not vice versa. Therefore you cannot use your ICICI bank account to send money to your Paypal account.
