You are on the Internet “blogging” to earn money and fame, I believe. Not all of you out there but at least I can say that the majority are. It is not wrong to earn money out of your hard work. If you beg to differ then you are free to comment on this post.

To start off with the Search Engine Optimization concept you need to know that there are two forms of it:

  • Onsite SEO
  • Offsite SEO

Both the SEO methods are very powerful if you have a plan to utilize the involved methods with it correctly. If you ever heard that SEO secrets are not revealed then you are wrong my friend. No matter what Blog niche you are into SEO techniques are always effective.

So let’s start out with our endeavor to rank well on the search engines by learning the basics. We will first understand what Onsite and Offsite SEO are and the involved methods in it.

Onsite SEO:

You can hope for a better search ranking result only when your blog or website is completely or at least partially optimized for the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing.

In order to Onsite Search Engine Optimize your blog or website you should have the following onsite SEO checklist completed:

1)    Meta Description, Meta Keywords

2)    Search Engine Friendly Permalink structure

3)    301 Redirect for your domain (with or without www)

4)    Sitemap and Robots.txt file

5)    Nofollow Links for valueless outbound links

6)    Interlinking Posts in your blog is a very good SEO tactic

7)    Effective Titles for all your blog content plus the website title

8)    Usage of Keywords in demand, effectively

9)    Alt tags for the images – SEO friendly Images

10)  Original content which is easily readable by both Search Engines and the Humans

Offsite SEO:

Offsite SEO has everything to do with what Onsite SEO does not deal with. Search Engine Optimizing done to your blog or website outside of it is called Offsite SEO.

So what do I mean by outside of the blog or site, really? In onsite SEO we try to improvise the visibility, appearance and characteristic of a website. This ensures that the proper branding and recognition is attained by the website or the blog that you own in the eyes of Google and other search engines.

4)    Submitting your RSS feeds to various directories
