Did you notice the revamp of the Google interface lately? The homepage gives you a sophisticated feeling and the results page is filled with many useful options.
Take a look at the images and let me guide you through the changes briefly:
Google Everything: Who ever said Google is not God is clearly lying. If not in the real world Google is definitely a God in the world of the Internet. So there you go Google finally proclaims the rumor and names its main result page as Google Everything, meaning you will get everything on the same page. Search results from blogs, websites, news source, videos, wikis and more.
Google Updates: This part of the results page for your query gives out information out of sites like Twitter, Friendfeed and others mainly. I get a clear hint that Google does not want to post threat to sites such as Twitter instead they are ready to play along and make Google a 1 stop shop for all your Internet needs. Wait a minute, this is what Google was all these days right?
Google Discussions: The result page for Google discussions is all about the latest stuff that is found in the Forums across the web. Literally this means the discussions that are going in and around the forums are shown as a results page on Google.
Apart from these 3 major changes or more sort of a restructuring of the results page there are sub features for each tabs of the Google features for search pages.
Time based search – This helps you find out information which are time based. This is useful to find out information which is current and creating waves across the Internet or maybe something which is very old.
- Latest
- Past 24 hours
- Past week
- Past month
- Past year
- Custom range…
Google Latest Search Results: This is the most interesting of all of the available options to find out information based on time. It has a pause button, you want to know why? Google serves the news and resources on the web like a hot cake, as it happens. So the page is updated right in front of your eyes, if the news is really hot then the page will have a rapid update. So a Pause button does makes sense now, doesn’t it?
The changes and options visible on the left sidebar of the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) are like too much for an average Internet user. But people with thirst for knowledge and constant lookout for resources will benefit the most.
I would love to explain everything in detail and come up with a spoiler of my own. Experiencing it first hand is the best deal, I believe. So go ahead and hop onto Google.com to find out the changes yourself now.
Note: Google has been experimenting with this new concept for the past couple of months on different country based Google domains like Google.co.in. This time around it is on the Google.com so it must be official and Live!
For bloggers like you and me it makes a lot of difference with this move. There are all possibilities to receive more visitors from the web with the “Latest results” feature. So, try to publish articles which are fresh on the Internet and you will benefit a lot.
SEO as we know it will diversify into new dimensions with this move made by Google. All I can say that is Google is taking over the web and we are glad about it. I just hope that the monopoly over the market does not turn out to be the ultimate cause of destruction of the Internet.
