The Amazon.com subsidiary Alexa, which is better known for its popular ranking system on the Internet for websites, is an important subject to a blogger like you and me. The reasons vary widely from one person to the other. So this is my logical explanation and views towards the Alexa ranking system.

Advertising companies and other sites where you can earn money from (like reviewme.com and Buysellads.com) will take Alexa ranking as one of the criteria. It is also a feel-good factor when you have a better Alexa ranking than your competitor.
So below are some of the main things that you need to take care of to improve your Alexa ranking for your Blog or Website.
- Encourage your friends and Website visitors to install Alexa Toolbar . Simply because it is one of the main criteria of how Alexa ranks each website. When a person visits your site with the Alexa toolbar installed in their browser, your Alexa ranking decreases for better.
- Visit this link: Alexa Site Widgets and add the Alexa widget of your choice onto your site. This also helps Alexa to determine your ranking and it is good to reduce the ranking.
- Write about Alexa related topics to garner attention of your blog readers. This will substantially help you tackle the Alexa problem.
- Webmasters are the ones who mainly use the Alexa toolbar. So if you manage to get more number of webmaster and blog owners to your site then it can prove beneficial to your Alexa ranking.
- Do not use Alexa auto surfs or anything stupid. Alexa knows it and it is just a waste of time when they penalize you at one point of time.
- Use this Firefox add-on: SearchStatus. It is more or less equivalent to the Alexa toolbar.
- Make sure that you blog comment on other popular related blogs to that of yours which has a good Alexa rank.
I know people all over the web crib about Alexa ranking, especially the webmaster community. Trust me they do the same for the Google Pagerank (mos t of them). As a blog owner do not get jinxed with these topics. None of the tips mentioned can damage your blog’s reputation. Having a good Alexa rank is good and it helps you be competitive with many other blogs.
I will definitely expect a few Hate Alexa type of comments. It is no surprise to me if you do, haha.

You have an impressive Alexa ranking.. cheers for that.. but I have also heard that Alexa ranking is not reliable.. how true is that ? Anyway I have implemented these tips on my blog.. let’s see how it works..
Thanks for your first comment and the compliment as well
@ Anshul
Well Alexa is not reliable for the fact that it doesn’t reflect all the visitors to your blog.
But it is of great interest to me and many other bloggers because it is one of the main factors which advertisers rely upon.
