Bounce rate can be explained in the following way:
- If the website visitor exits out of your website or Blog without clicking on any other link then it contributes to Bounce Rate.
- If your blog traffic is monitored by Google Analytics then the bounce rate is calculated if the blog or the website visitor does not click on anything and exits out within 30 seconds of his/her arrival on a given page.

The formula to calculate the Bounce Rate on your Blog or Site is
Bounce Rate = Total Number of Visits Viewing One Page / Total Number of Visits
Hope you get an idea of what Bounce rate is and now let me explain to you different ways to decrease Bounce Rate on your Blog or Site:
1) Increase the Speed of your Blog or website, try to reduce the loading time. Do not use big images which slow down the loading time. Website visitors just hate to wait until the website loads if they are visiting it for the first time.
2) Do not use Adsense or any other Advertisement on the main page as far as possible. Link units or small block of ads are fine but not right in the header or somewhere near it. It is a great cause of Bounce rate for many. Adsense Positioning does matter a lot to decrease Bounce rate.
3) Interlink your blog posts to make the visitor stay on your blog. This helps to increase the chances of him/her staying on the Blog and reduce Bounce rate automatically.
4) A Search Box for the blog or website should be placed at the very top of the website or Blog theme. It should be clearly visible. Blog readers especially try to search for what they want before they exit your blog in most of the cases.
5) Do not use annoying pop-up ads or iframe ads which asks for visitors email address so that they can download a free eBook maybe. This trick used to work like about 2 years back, now people find it hard to stay on the blog or website as soon as they get such ads up on their screen.
By following these easy steps you can decrease the Bounce rate of your blog in less than a week’s time. Just make sure that you write good content for the people and not for the Search Engines.
